What’s the step-by-step registration process?

To register for CHM’s Virtual Care Solution, powered by HealthTap, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit the unique link here: https://www.healthtap.com/landing/chm/. Click on “Get started.” Visiting this link will connect your account to CHM’s Virtual Care Solution. Important note: please be sure to visit this specific webpage to register before attempting to use the HealthTap app.
  2. Enter your information: Fill out your (or the primary account holder's) last name and your CHM membership ID. For easy access, make sure you’re entering your last name exactly as it appears on your CHM Member Portal.
  3. Select your profile: Choose your profile from the list shown. You will see all eligible adults associated with your CHM membership ID. Every adult on the membership will need their own separate account. Any accounts for a child included in your membership can be created later under your personal account.
  4. Enter your email address: You’ll enter and verify a personal email address for your account. Please note: each eligible adult (or dependent over 18) on the membership must sign up separately with their own email address.
  5. Complete your profile: Follow any final prompts to enter your phone number and verify your information, and you’ll be ready to start making appointments!
What's included in my CHM membership?

Both primary care and urgent care appointments using HealthTap are included for every CHM member! It’s important to note that any associated lab, testing, or treatment costs are not included; however, eligible bills can be submitted to CHM for sharing per your program as outlined in the CHM Guidelines.

How can a HealthTap doctor help me?

HealthTap’s primary care doctors are available for checkups, sudden illness, chronic conditions, prescription refills, and more. They're here to listen and be a partner in your health journey for years to come.

It’s important to note that HealthTap virtual visits are not intended for use in medical emergencies. Always call 911 or your local emergency service immediately if you think you have an emergency.

How soon can I get an appointment with a HealthTap doctor?

Through HealthTap, you’ll have access to same-day or same-week appointments, so you won’t have to experience month-long waits to been seen by a primary care physician. Plus, all video visits are included as part of CHM membership!

These services are available every day through HealthTap from 7am to 11pm ET.

Will I be charged for other services within HealthTap that CHM doesn’t share for?

Both primary care and urgent care video visits and messaging with your HealthTap primary care doctor are included in VCS for every CHM member (age 1+). It’s important to note that any associated lab, testing, or treatment costs are not included, however, eligible bills can be submitted to CHM for sharing per your program as outlined in the CHM Guidelines.

Do I get to pick my healthcare provider?

For virtual primary care visits, you’ll have a range of HealthTap primary care providers to pick from, so you can find a doctor you love for long-term care! For virtual urgent care visits, you’ll have on-demand access to the first available HealthTap doctor, whom you don't choose.

What if I need an appointment for my child (under age 18)?

Children on your CHM membership won’t automatically appear in the user selection menu. Instead, you’ll add your child (age 1+) under the primary caregiver’s account after you register first.

If two parents are on the membership, we recommend registering any children under the account you’ll be using most often (the person who is the primary caregiver for your children’s healthcare needs).

Does the participating patient (for example, a child) need to be present for a HealthTap virtual visit?

The main patient must be present during any visits conducted via HealthTap. Doctors cannot proceed with the visit if the main patient is not present. This means that if an appointment is scheduled on behalf of a dependent child, the child must also be present during the visit.

Can I get referrals to specialists or in-person care?

Yes! HealthTap’s online doctors can recommend specialist or in-person care whenever it is clinically appropriate. You can then book an appointment with a specialist near you of your choice.

How can I get a prescription through HealthTap?

Should your doctor feel that a prescription is necessary, they'll electronically transmit your prescription immediately to your selected pharmacy where it will be filled per the pharmacy's standard protocol. We always recommend checking with the pharmacy to see when it'll be ready for pickup.

There are some medications that are always prescribed in person and cannot be prescribed by HealthTap doctors (or any other doctor seeing a patient online). These include opioids and other controlled substances (such as Adderall), and some psychiatric and lifestyle drugs.

It's important to note that only incident related prescriptions are eligible for sharing per the CHM Guidelines (in accordance with your selected program). You can submit any eligible medical bills to CHM for sharing after your appointment.

Is there a HealthTap app?

Yes, you’re welcome to download and use the HealthTap app for your appointments. However, please be sure to first complete your registration with the unique webpage before downloading or logging into the app: https://www.healthtap.com/landing/chm/. Using this link will help make sure your HealthTap account is connected!

Will I need to register if I signed up for HealthiestYou (not HealthTap)?

Yes, you'll need to register through HealthTap as we are no longer partnered with HealthiestYou. After you register, you'll be ready to start using our new Virtual Care Solution!

Why is it important to get primary care?

According to a recent study conducted by the Commonwealth Fund, adults in the United States are the least likely to have an established relationship with a primary care provider compared to those in other high-income countries. This is despite evidence showing that prioritizing primary care leads to better health outcomes. Additionally, according to research by Nextera Healthcare, the average wait time to see a primary care provider is about 26 days, making it difficult to get care when needed.

In contrast, with VCS, you’ll have access to same-week or same-day primary care and urgent care appointments. Additionally, CHM members can get long-term ongoing care with board-certified doctors who listen to you when it matters most.

What does “board-certified doctors” mean?

HealthTap doctors are board-certified with an accredited American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty board. They are based in the U.S., have at least one medical degree and have a valid and unrestricted license to practice in one or more U.S. states and no significant adverse professional action against the doctor's medical license.

Is there a specific registration page, or can I sign up through HealthTap directly?
